hi,

i able to resolve error I posted.
we just need to arrange data sequenciall in playtennise.data file.
just put debug statements and get sequence of attributes.
so, one must get outlook like sunny and not hot !
in given data file just keep first single line as :
sunny,hot,high,weak,no
and test.
also check for :
In Hw1.java
public static int NUM_ATTRS =5;
and
traverseTree(records.get(14),root);
where ’14′ means how many records in your .data file
if you have 12 no of records,write 12 instead of 14.

Really appriciable code, i tried to resolve error but still getting:
getting this error:

Uh oh, got an Exception error: Unknown number of attributes!
Exception in thread “main” java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 12, Size: 0
at java.util.ArrayList.RangeCheck(ArrayList.java:547)
at java.util.ArrayList.get(ArrayList.java:322)
at Hw1.main(Hw1.java:25)

Thank you for the sharing this code.Is useful but there is one think i can not understand and it will be great if you explain me.Why in the entropy part we use .get(4) i think we should compare according to the class column or i am wrong.

It works. Instructions a little hard to follow if you’ve never used Automator though. 1. Leave “Actions” selected on left side. On upper right side, choose “no input” from “Service receives”, then choose “Mail” from “in” Choose “Mail”. , then drag “Get Selected Messages” to the right side. Then choose “Utilities” from left side and drag “Run Applescript” to right side. Cut and paste the text from above into the open space for the script. Start exactly with “on” and end with, well… “end”. No extra spaces or anything else. Choose File, Save, and name it appropriately. Their final instructions work just fine.

Anyway, that is how I got it to work.

What should be changed so that it doesn’t go in an infinite loop? And this part:
if(root.getTestAttribute().getValue() == 0) {
System.out.println(“No”);
}
else if(root.getTestAttribute().getValue() == 0) {
System.out.println(“Yes”);
}
shouldn’t the instructions be different?

I sent a message to myself and tried bouncing it after applying the instructions 1 – 6 above. It did delete the message but it didn’t send a reply to myself confirming it had been bounced.

I’m still not sure whether an original sender would receive a bounced message.

i got some problems for the path of playtennis.data i put it in src folder with the other code but i got this message:
“Uh oh, got an IOException error: playtennis.data (The system cannot find the file specified)”
can u tell me the where i should put the playtennis.data (path)?

Thanks for posting this ID3 proposal for Java. I’ve expanded it and adjust the code for my project. Just for suggestion, in the HW1 file, I found it better not to use the recursive method, but instead create a list of Nodes and sort them according to having or not having children. By using ONE record as input and the learned list, it seems to work fine :) Happy hacking all!

The script does work – you just don’t receive any feedback as you did previously. Try sending mail to yourself and bouncing it. I promise you it works.

Yes, I too want the bounce mail feature back.

I’m happy you’re supplying the Apple Community with a work-around and that you care enough to share.

However, the script doesn’t work for me. I select the message, I select my new ‘Bounce Message’ service and nothing happens. And yes, I’ve already tried turning it off and on.

Any help would be appreciated.
